When director Kyle Portbury first shared the story of The Hopeful with me, I was immediately moved by its message. At its heart, the film is about people searching for meaning, wrestling with disappointment, and still choosing to hold on to hope. That journey felt deeply human to me and immediately inspired the music.

I wrote and recorded two original songs for the film, ‘Hope Is On The Way’ and ‘Made For You’. Both were written to reflect the emotional heart of the story, with ‘Hope Is On The Way’ becoming the end theme of the film, carrying the message that even when life feels uncertain, hope is always moving toward us.

Working with Kyle and the team was incredibly special. Kyle found beautiful ways to weave the songs throughout the film in themes, quiet moments, and emotional turning points that I never could have imagined when the music was first written.

On the music side, composer Blake Robinson created the gorgeous orchestration and score for the film, and it was a joy partnering with him as the music came to life.

Even though the story is set in the 1800s, the questions it asks feel timeless: faith, purpose, and what it means to keep believing when life doesn’t unfold the way we expect.

My hope was that the songs would carry the spirit of the film beyond the screen, reminding people that even in life’s most uncertain moments, hope is always on its way.
