Rhythm of Grace | Official Music Video From Young David | Angel Studios & Minno
Writing the songs ‘23’ and ‘Rhythm of Grace’ for the animated series Young David was a beautiful opportunity to explore the early life of David as a young shepherd and musician. Long before he faced giants or sat on a throne, David was a boy out in the fields of Bethlehem discovering God through music, poetry, and the beauty of creation around him.
‘23’ was inspired by the words of Psalm 23, one of the most beloved passages in the Bible. It captures the quiet trust David had in God as his shepherd, the sense that even when walking through uncertain valleys, he was never alone.
‘Rhythm of Grace’ reflects another side of David’s heart. When you read the psalms, you can feel how deeply David experienced God in the world around him, in the rising sun, the wind, the waves, and the stars in the sky. The song captures that joy and freedom, the idea that God’s presence can be found everywhere and that life itself can begin to move to a different rhythm — what I like to call the rhythm of grace.
Hearing the songs come to life through the voice of young David’s actor and singer Brandon Engman was incredibly special. He brought such sincerity and heart to the music, which made the story feel even more alive.
Seeing these songs woven into the story of David’s early years was deeply meaningful to me. Long before David faced Goliath, he was already discovering that music could become a language of faith, courage, and hope.”Writing the songs ‘23’ and ‘Rhythm of Grace’ for the animated series Young David was a beautiful opportunity to explore the early life of David as a young shepherd and musician.
